Ok, i figured a lil strategy post was about due. So yeah preflop its folded to me in LP and i has a poket pair, standard open here, and bb calls so his range is pretty huge, but hes oop so f him.
Bink flop a set, but its a pretty drawy board. I bet small though less than 1/2 pot. Here i have the 2nd nuts, if hes got 56, god bless and i have outs, so i think over how to get the most value and i think with my standard cbet size of 2/3+ pot this 1/2 pot bet is raise inducing by a big % of his range. I think he might bluff with overs, if he has the nfd were proly getting it in, undersets are obv raise/getting it in, and a lot of overpairs are raising/stacking off, ive seen 9s stack off here plenty. Sadly he does not raise.
So as soon as he calls i think hes meh strong or could still be floating. The 8 changes nothing unless i got two outted so i decide to triple my bet on the turn. He has now checked twice, which i doubt the nut straight is doing, so its gotta be a draw or a call me down hand. So i figure 9 is a good size into this pot most draws arent folding, but are getting a shit price on the pot.
And the river is a meh scare card. The problem is, hes not gonna value bet his missed hands, and hes not gonna call a big bet, or my vbet even. Now i touched on this in a previous strat post, but sometimes i like to bet to induce a raise. My bet here looks like a blocker bet, it looks like im trying to get him to call with weak hands, and i will fold to a raise. My 15 bet is actually probably a little to much and hes probably not raising as often as he would if i bet 12 on the river.
His 1/4 more than a min raise is interesting and was convincing but the price im getting plus the fact that i dont bet that amount unless i want to get raised makes it a snap call, and boom maximized profit.
Some might be thinking he could of had the straight but most 5, combo draw hands are raising me at some point, proly shipping the flop tbh. Also i live and die by my sets, i pay off because a lot of two pairs are there too, and im just crushing his range.
For some ROT that didnt show in the hh conversion, he had KJspades so a bit hidden, but i def maximized my value.
